Today's Forecast: Unpredictably Bright with a Touch of Enlightenment

We know nothing of tomorrow; our business is to be good and happy today

Ladies, let's be honest. If we had a crystal ball to glimpse into the future, many of us would probably be cheekily checking how long we will live, whether will we ever find love, will we ever develop a taste for Brussels sprouts (Confession, I do), or if that detective series we're hooked on ever unravels who the bloody killer is? But the truth is, we know nothing of tomorrow. Our job is to be good and happy today. So how can we stop worrying about tomorrow?

Meandering through life, with our handbag of past "blunders", we might feel a bit like we're juggling whilst riding a unicycle. Backwards. But stay with me; there's a plot twist in store.

Why Tomorrow is That Novel You Can’t Peek the Ending Of

Ever been engrossed in a mystery, resisting the urge to cheekily sneak a look at the last page? Life's a lot like that book. Unpredictable, sometimes baffling, but always marching on. And while tomorrow remains that enigmatic page, today is the chapter we're actively crafting and it's where our attention should mainly focus.

Between 30 and 55, life can sometimes feel like a crossword where half the clues have gone on holiday.

But here’s a thought: What if today's the map, and you've got the compass? How can we stop fretting over the future and be more present in the now?

Here are some bite-sized tips for you:

  1. Be more mindful: Mindfulness doesn’t always mean striking a yogi pose amidst serene lily pads. Sometimes, it's about truly savouring that hot cup of tea, feeling the steam hit your face as you warm your hands in it's comfort.

  2. Raise a Glass to the Tiny Triumphs: Made your bed? Found your keys on the first go? Or you've just managed to enjoy a quiet moment without the kids calling you to wipe their bottom? Small joys deserve a big cheer.

  3. Lift-Pitch Affirmations: Imagine the snappiest pep talk you’d give to someone in a lift. "Today's your day to shine! "You're unstoppable!" or "The only way is up!" Now, give that pitch to yourself.

  4. Natter and Nibbles: Share a light-hearted tale or a joke over the phone with your close pal whilst enjoying a glass of wine and that last piece of cheddar in the fridge that everyone's been too polite to take. Laughter is truly the best medicine.

The Mindset Curveball

Yes, life coaches do bang on about mindset and for one very good reason. It is the key to unlocking everything in your life you feel isn't working.

Read that again.

Today, while fleeting, holds a unique charm, but the past, despite its reruns, does not control the telly remote. You do.

Whilst life doesn’t come with a spoiler alert, there's a certain joy in its unpredictability. Okay, not the British weather. We would love to be able to predict it but alas, it remains a mystery!

As the saying goes, "Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass; it’s about learning to dance in the rain." So, lace up those metaphorical dancing shoes and let's make the most of today!

Do you have being in the moment mastered, or are you always worrying about tomorrow? Please let me know in the comments.
